چکیده

ABSTRACT Sequential and iterative Pd-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions can be performed in which the order of C-C bond formations can be controlled either by the attenuated leaving groups of the multireactive substrate or by specific catalyst/ligand combinations. This tutorial review gives an overview about recent developments in this field and the various strategies used for the assembly of oligoarenes and -alkenes. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT

The synthesis of unsymmetrical 2,5-disubstituted thiophenes by selective and sequential palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reactions of indium organometallics with 2,5-dibromothiophene is reported. Following an iterative coupling sequence, α-oligothiophenes were synthesized in good yields and with high atom economy.

Two concise and efficient approaches were developed for the synthesis of α- and δ-carboline derivatives. The success of the synthesis relies on site-selective Suzuki-Miyaura reactions of 1-chloro-2-bromopyridine or 2,3-dibromopyridine with 2-bromophenylboronic acid and subsequent cyclization with amines which proceeds by twofold Pd-catalyzed C-N coupling reactions.

Pd(0)-catalyzed domino C-N coupling/hydroamination/C-H arylation reactions: efficient synthesis and photophysical properties of azaindolo[1,2-f]phenanthridines.

A series of new 7- and 4-azaindolo[1,2-f]phenanthridines were synthesized by a domino Pd(0)-catalyzed reaction, which involves three sequential steps: C-N coupling, hydroamination, and intramolecular C-H arylation. The products show promising fluorescence properties with high quantum yields (12-65%).
